RKO Keith's Theater

The RKO Keith's Theater is getting a new lease on life. After decades of neglect, the theater's entrance spaces are being restored and adaptively reused as a grand foyer for a new residential development. Working with the preservationist Angel AyĆ³n from AYON Studio Architecture and Preservation, we documented the existing conditions of the landmarked spaces.

Our work is on view showcasing RKO Keith's Theater in the exhibition Rescued, Restored, Reimagined: New York's Landmark Interiors at the New York School of Interior Design. The exhibit runs through April 24th in the NYSID Gallery.
More information about New York City's Interior Landmarks can be found on the NYSID Exhibition Companion Website.

As we found them in a state of extreme disrepair, these spaces were inconsistently lit by temporary construction lights. In order to produce images fitting for use as documents of the existing conditions of the space, we brought in several thousand watts of lighting. We set up multiple lighting configurations for each photograph to reveal maximum detail throughout, and carefully blended each exposure together to produce the final image.
